During Easter Holidays in 2018, I thought to have a holiday in “Cinque Terre“.
I wanted to visit this fantastic natural marine reserve nestled in the cliffs of the Liguria Region, in Italy.
In Italy is called “Fuori Porta”, literally “out the door”.
It means that a particular vacation of a weekend to have a rest after working week and break the daily life in the city.
Do you believe in just visiting “Cinque Terre” that you finished watching everything?
Thanks to the suggestion of the hostel’s secretary, I went to visit Porto Venere.
This is a small town on the top of the foreland between La Spezia, where I spent my holidays during my life in a hostel, and Riomaggiore.
I think there are no words to describe the beauty of this place, but images say more of one thousand words…
I arrived at this point from La Spezia where I started by bus and I had paid three euros for the cost of a travel ticket.
Unfortunately, the “Cinque Terre Card” not cover the cost of this journey.
Try to arrive there as soon as possible in the early morning, because it is a highly touristic zone.
Because you can risk finding many people there and complicate to visit the attraction of the place.
I can suggest visiting the St. Peter Church which was built in 1198 and the balcony with the majestic view of “Cinque Terre” cliffs.
Porto Venere is a very small town with just three thousand citizens, but it very colorful and very suggestive landscape!
If you are planning for a trip to Cinque Terre, I can definitely suggest doing a small jump in this little pearl.
The legend says the goddess Venus was born here.
How to arrive in Porto Venere?
You can arrive in two ways using public transports.
How to move by train?
I arrived in La Spezia by train using “Trenitalia” the national Italian railway company.
In my case from Turin Porta Nuova and then I changed the train on Genoa Brignole.
If you want to plan to move by train it is the site of the railway company that I used.
How to move by bus?
From La Spezia there is an urban bus service that lets you arrive in Porto Venere, and this bus company is managed by ATC, where you can buy travel tickets, by SMS, by smartphone or selling points.
